Using Russia as an example, with the war starting, pickets and anti-war rallies have lost their impact. The police break up the gatherings quickly, and activists with anti-war banners are immediately detained, leaving little chance for their protests to be seen.
Therefore, street art has become one of the main tools of protests in Russia, as it is a relatively safe form of expressing one's position.
However, the lifespan of such street art is also quite short, ranging from 2 hours to several days. The number of such works is decreasing due to creating anti-war graffiti that can result in up to 15 years of imprisonment.
This platform offers a safe space to not only create new statements, but also reconstruct those that were once erased from the streets, allowing users to digitally restore it in its original size and location. It also engages in the deconstruction and vandalisation of pro-regime statements.
