ASSOCIATION FOR Folk Life
Use your museum - support your museum: Since its foundation in 1895, the Austrian Museum of Folk Life and Folk Art has been supported by the Association for Folk Life (Verein für Volkskunde). As a member you support the work of the museum in the long term.
The Austrian Museum of Folk Life and Folk Art is a cultural science museum with extensive collections of folk art as well as historical and contemporary cultures of Europe. We are an open place for research and communication. We enjoy experimenting and trying out new things. In our work we focus on lively and challenging approaches. We provide space for social interaction and discourse.As an association museum, the Austrian Museum of Folk Life and Folk Art is institutionally independent. The Association for Folk Life gives all interested parties the opportunity to think about and help shape the museum´s orientation. The membership fees finance exhibitions, research and collection projects and a wide range of events.
The Association for Folk Life publishes the Austrian Journal of Folklore every six months and the news four times a year.
The Association for Folk Life is a member of the Association of Austrian Scientific Societies and currently has about 600 members.
