TURNING POINTS – MUSEUMS FOR A DEMOCRATIC FUTURE

EU-Interreg-Project SK – AT

In December 2025, the Bratislava City Museum / Múzeum Mesta Bratislavy and the Volkskundemuseum Wien launched their joint project, “Turning Points – Museums for a Democratic Future. This cross-border initiative will run through July 2028 and is funded by the Interreg Slovakia-Austria program with  a total of 2,840,895 euros.

The Austrian Museum of Folk Life and Folk Art / Volkskundemuseum Wien is one of the world’s largest ethnographic museums and home to extensive collections of folk art as well as to collections that cover historical and contemporary European cultures of everyday life. A permanent display collection as well as special exhibitions address a diverse array of themes pertaining to human coexistence in a constantly changing world.

Please note that due to renovation, the museum, library, café, and shop at Laudongasse are closed. The Volkskundemuseum Wien has already relocated its activities to the Otto Wagner Areal (OWA). Office space is available in Pavilion 1 on Baumgartner Höhe since October 2024. Program and activities is already taking place on site. Please check the the events here. _MEHR
